Beet Kvass- probiotic drink. Cheers :-)
My mum introduced me to beet kvass last time I went to Poland. She knew that my iron was low and decided to get some beet kvass into me.
I was drinking it every day, first thing in the morning. It was so delicious.
Then I looked into the health benefits of this drink and beet kvass is full of vitamins and minerals such as :
Vitamin C and Vitamin B including folate
Calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and potassium
Probiotic and digestive enzymes
Betalin and sulphur-containing amino acids
Beet kvass is not only good to boost iron level but for our cardiovascular health, because of nitrates in beets which change in our body to nitric oxide, it helps to lower the blood pressure.
Beets are used by athletes to boost their stamina.
Beet kvass also has great immune boosting qualities great in these times.
I treat it as a tonic which helps to alkalize my body, cleanse the liver and blood and aid my digestion and boost my immune system.
I drink it for 3 weeks first thing in the morning and last thing in the night and then have a break depend on the needs I resume after one week or when I feel my body needs an extra boost.
So how you make this godsend drink.
My tweaked recipe I am using all organic products, if possible use it too.
6 to 7 beets.
5 cloves of garlic
2 litres of filtered water
Salt ( I use Himalayan)
Ginger few slices
Bay leaves 2 big leaves
Allspice 4
I boil water and add salt good 1 tablespoon( I like it salty) wait to cool down and then add peeled and chopped beetroots and all other ingredients.
During the process of fermentation, you will see white froth or foam and you just scooped it out, every day.
It may take 2-7 days depending on how hot or cold it is and after that, you can refrigerate it.
We are spending now more time at home, so think about it as a chance to try new things.
Keep healthy and calm my lovely friends.
